About AC Fitness

AC Fitness was originally known as Royal Courts, a premier racquetball club. Purchased by entrepreneur Robert Tambur in 1989, the facility was renamed the Athletic Club and was expanded to include a wide range of exercise options including weight lifting, cardio vascular, and other aerobic activities.

In 2011, Blue Ridge Trail Golf Academy was opened at the facility offering members indoor golf equipped with E6 Connect TruGolf Simulators to improve and maintain the efficiency of their golf game in addition to creating an atmosphere where players can challenge their friends, play tournaments, or compete for a spot on our leaderboard.

In 2015, the Athletic Club was renamed AC Fitness and redesigned from top to bottom to meet the needs of improving overall health and physical fitness for people of all ages while still providing a form of recreation with indoor golf and racquetball.

After a vigorous workout, you can relax in your own private sauna or steam bath or make an appointment with our Certified Massage Therapist or our PGA Golf Professional.

From the newest state of the art exercise equipment to individualized personal training and classes, there is something for everyone.

Testimonials

Joe McCann, Wilkes-Barre
“I’ve been coming to AC Fitness for about 10 years now. I used to exercise periodically off and on. I was holding a desk job and found myself gaining more and more weight. About three months ago, I started coming to AC Fitness daily to get myself back into shape. Lifting weights, doing elliptical, and cardio training has helped me lose 40 pounds and my goal is to lose 10 more. Once you get used to exercising regularly you really start to enjoy it more. I even feel badly if I miss a day. I like the atmosphere of AC Fitness. You don’t have to wait for machines, it’s not intimidating, and the staff is fantastic. Mike, the trainer, is always there offering help or tips on form if I need it. The equipment here is top-notch and it’s an all-around good place to work out in. You get to know everyone."

Shon Kingrey, Drums
“I’m originally from Annapolis, but moved to the city of Drums over a year ago. I suffered a heart attack resulting in three stents placed in my body. I needed a facility to keep a regular workout to keep my heart and body fit. I chose AC Fitness. I do cardio every day and lift weights four times a week here at the center. The upgrades throughout AC Fitness have greatly improved my workout performance. But it’s the people at AC Fitness that keep me coming back. The people here are great. Everyone is friendly and we all know each other. There’s no intimidation. I come in for a great workout and feel comfortable doing it. The rates are reasonable and the hours work well for me.”

Gail Pisarsik, Bear Creek
“I’ve always been athletic. In high school I played field hockey, was on the swim team and a cheerleader. I enjoy being fit and running is my addiction. After work, I like to workout and AC Fitness is convenient for me. They have everything I need here - free weights, elliptical, and cardio machines. Everyone is like family. The staff and the other members are supportive and friendly. I would recommend AC Fitness to anyone."
